Open Question: Left 4 Dead 2 lag problems? (xbox 360)?
I just got L4D2 earlier this week but somehow our router got screwed up and we had to receive a new one, so I haven't been able to play online yet. Today we got a new router and the internet and wireless is working just fine and I'm completely connected to Xbox Live but everytime I go on L4D2 and try to play a versus game it is laggy as hell, the characters will freeze and I will randomly fly back and forth to certain areas and I can't move. Is this just a problem with Valve's servers? I tried playing the first one to look if it was a problem with my internet connection but it was fine. Someone pleasee tell me what's wrong :[

Open Question: What ISP provider do you consider to be the best in the UK (except Virigin Media?)?
Well Virgin Media screwed me around so i left them and i'm now with BT. Sadly i am not too glad with the fact that they seem to limit my internet when it comes to playing multiplayer games on Steam. I currently have my eye on TalkTalk but will they just do the same thing? I basicly need a service provider that won't cease my friends from connecting to my server when i'm hosting a game. Any idea's from personal experience on whether or not i should go ahead with TalkTalk or go to a recomended company? Many thanks

Open Question: Problem with smtp setting up emails on my mobile?
I've set up emails on my mobile phone using the email address given to me by my isp (karoo). According to their website the incoming server is pop3.karoo.co.uk and the smtp is smtp.karoo.co.uk I'm trying to set up my phone so I can send and recieve emails from this address. With the settings over I can check my emails but I can't send any. My phones internet is tesco mobile. Would that mean I need to change the outgoing mail server to something else? I'm not great with this sort of thing so any help would be much appreciated! I've tried google but haven't been able to figure this out

Open Question: Cell phone question Nokia?
I purchased a Nokia E71 via amazon.com. I set up the phone and i had service internet for about 5 minutes that it went away. This kept happening and then i lose every service. Is there something wrong with the phone or am i doing something wrong. I have at&t and it said that it carried that server when i ordered it. Why would it be getting service then cease so quickly. ineffective phone?? I could make like one call then try again and it wouldnt work. couldnt receive either and i could send like 2 texts then if i sleepy to send more it wouldnt work

Open Question: ps3 Modern Warfare 2?
well here's the situation, my ps3 server for modern warfare 2 has been down for at least 4-5 weeks. i dont think it's the game because it's working fine and my internet connection is fine also. i also dont think it is the location b/c it was working fine for about 2 months before. when i try to play online i receive into the lobby and it just says 00.0% 0/25 good games and it stays like that for forever. so i am wondering, is something wrong with my ps3 or is it something else?? plz help me...

Open Question: How can you easily monitor web access on an office network?
I work at a tiny-medium office, with around 60 workstations (not part of a domain, just a workgroup), and one PC/server acts as a gateway. Currently, internet access is simply shared directly. We obviously don't want connection problems when we need it because people or downloading videos from youtube, mp3s, etc., so, we're looking into how to monitor usage. So, can anybody suggest a simple method to control, or at least monitor bandwidth usage? Also, is there a way for each workstation user to realize it is being monitored? Lastly, references to websites or articles on this matter will be greatly appreciated... Thanks before; and sorry for any lack of detail or if this is a stupid question. We (unfortunately) don't have dedicated IT staff, and I was somehow considered an "IT expert".... Sigh...

Open Question: Internet won't connect to some web pages! Help?
I've tried in every three (IE, Firefox, Chrome) and it does it for every of them. For example I navigate to a website like this: http://member.square-enix.com/na/ Sometimes it loads but takes forever, sometimes it doesn't load at every and I receive Server Connection Timed Out, Cannot Find Server, or Web Page Unavailable depending on which browser I use. Then when it DOES load I click on this link from that page. https://member.square-enix.com/na/account/new/pre_member.php And it doesn't load EVER. EVERY SINGLE TIME I receive the messages over. Why the hell won't my internet load some of the pages? I'm using AT&T DSL.

I have a Linksys Wireless-G USB Adapter, model WUSB54GC, and I'd like to connect to my wireless router using it. Open Question: I can't get the internet anymore on my laptop (Borrowing a nearby network)?
I have been borrowoing my neighbors internet network for several months and everything was fine. Two days ago, I could not access the intenet. Where it usually says local and internet, it says local only. When I tried to diagnose the problem it said cannot communicate with primary dns server (68.105.28.11). Whats the problem?

Open Question: Wireless Internet only working with fixed IP, DNS etc.?!?
Hi everybody, I am working in a hotel on an island, so it's difficult to find someone here who knows about internet, computers, etc. (neither do I). In the hotel we have a wireless internet router so the guests can use it in the lobby. Up until yesterday, everything worked fine, until it just stopped. So I checked this morning, called the provider and they told me to connect my laptop directly, and hooray, I had internet. After that, I reset the (Linksys) router and reconfigured it correctly. I can connect to the internet, ping IP's, but cannot open any webpages. It always says there is a DNS mistake. I then researched a bit and tried to put in a static (fixed) IP as well as DNS server etc, and it works fine. The problem is, it is not very convenient if we have to assign static IP's and every to every guest that wants to surf the net...and it did work fine before. Does anybody know what to do here?! Help would be greatly appreciated...

Open Question: I am trying to fix my dads Internet problem and I need help if anyone can help me solve this issue.?
He has a wireless internet box and has bought a usb internet card that just plugs in to it. It shows he has a signal but when he opens up the internet explorer it says " Cannot find server" and when I try to use the Diagnose it starts then stops and says it cannot find anything. I have done a system restore, reinstalling the software for the wireless usb stick, run the diagnose, checked the usb to make sure its plugged in, ran a resource cd, tried like everything I know. Nothing is working but I don't understand why it says there's a signal but I cant receive on. Anyone got a solution maybe? This is what he has: Dell Dimension 2350 Celeron(R) CPU 1.70GHz 1.69GHz, 768 RAM Windows XP SP3 Thanx!

Resolved Question: how do you find what you internet server id is?
if I'm in my photo folder and want to send pics to someone and i load in their email address before i can send it, it asks what my internet server name is, it usually comes up with initials that i am suppose to put in like: pop3 etc.. how and where do i find this information, i called and emailed my internet provider but they do not return calls or mails, it is very important that i find this out

Open Question: Gmod Crashing, need help!!!?
This is a problem that has gone on for quite some time now.. It has to do with the multilayer. So what happens is this. My brother, cousin, and I will sometimes like to create a server and play together online. Thing is, we every live in the same home and use the same internet to run multilayer, of course we every have different PC's. So anyways one of us will create a server it will load fully then we will have someone else join, but when they do, the entire server crashes. So basically we can not create a local multilayer server and play on it using our possess home network without crashing. Does anyone know of a solution to this?

Open Question: Did I do a stupid thing (Confused wifi gamer!)?
I was frustrated with my Comcast internet since they have to be hooked up to the cable, I couldn't receive a direct connection to the internet. So I easily got talked in to switching over to AT&T. But now that I'm reading the papers (after signing), I'm a little scared. With comcast I had 16 megabits, but now it'll drop to 3 (maybe I can bring it to 6). But, it'll be a wired connection, and my internet will be on it's possess server rather than a shared server (according to the reps). Was my move stupid? If so, what should I do?

Resolved Question: why wont my new assassins creed 2 pc game recognise my internet?
ive just bought the assassins creed 2 pc version. after spending half an hour to try register an account (which i did..........in the end) and have installed the game. the game now keeps sayin "an internet connection is required to play this game. I am starting a yell Cast online radio station and I will be non-profit. I want to know where is the best place for me to go for a license for music royalties? I heard BMI but I don't know if they will give a license to a non-profit radio station. Also, I have a PayPal account set up for donations but I want to make sure it is every right to have people donate from my website widget and that it is not soliciting? Open Question: waiting for response from master server?
This message shows up for every computer game I try and play. I have tried it on halo combat evolved and call of duty 2 and I always receive that mistake. I don't know what to do. I have windows 7 and I am using a wireless router on this laptop to connect to the internet. i want to make my possess proxy server i have every the required stuff ive made servers before. Open Question: What is wrong with my PS3 connection?
What is going on with my PS3 connection? I play NASCAR 09 a lot, and just about a week and a half ago, my connection was fine.....I played online with other people, and had some really good racing. Now, every time I race online, every single car lags on my screen - really badly. So I know that there is something wrong with my connection. I called PS3 customer service, they went through the connection test and me that I should enable UpNp, and it might help. But they said I have to call my internet provider (Verizon) and tell them how to enable it, and that I have to have experience and know what I'm doing....but I don't know anything about the UpNp or how to enable it!! My connection was perfectly FINE just over a week ago, but now I can't even race because my car lags every over and wrecks people! Nothing has changed, I have not done anything with my PS3 or internet connection. I thought it might be something with the EA Servers, but none of my friends are having lagging/connection problems. So that can't be it. I even receive signed out of PSN more often than I should. So what is the problem and what can I do to receive better connection? I need help soon!

my question is about cs:s servers. well, i used to live in irvine, ca and in cs:s my server list would be about 20,000 servers, i was using cox internet, now i live in huntington beach, ca and am using verizon fios internet and i receive about 1,400 servers, does this have to do with my ISP or my location? and if i can change this please tell me how. no filtering settings have been changed it has nothing to do with the age of the game. i know this because it went from 20k to 1.4k the day i moved, and also, my dads home gets 20k and my moms home gets 1.4k

Open Question: cannot reach gmail, what can I do?
Somehow I cannot reach gmail. It happens with both Firefox and Internet explorer. Firefox says "can't find the server at mail.google.com." I could read headers of messages in my gmail account through sync on my yahoo. But when I tried to receive in, browser cannot find the gmail page. It happens to anybody now? How can I resolve it? Open Question: How do i get past blockers on my schools computers?
Another year, another blocker. Last year I had Ultr-Surf in my E-mail account and could download it as Microsoft Word. It would put me on a proxy without having to go through internet options. Open Question: Is there any way to block a VPN?
I am using witopia vpn from china, using the more expensive package. The one that can be used with the iPhone...=/ So yeah, it's worked fine for a while but lately my dorm at Fudan University did some maintenance on the internet connection, said they were upgrading or something. Now I can't connect to any of the servers. So is there any way to block a VPN, or is this some other problem? My family uses a shared VPN so we can't every be on at the same time, but I checked with them and nobody was using it. (by phone though, so who knows...) Open Question: Computer switches internet connection between NICs at random, it seems.?
I have a computer with two NICs: both have internet connections but I only want the computer to use LAN1 for internet, never LAN2 (LAN2 connects to a special proxy server.) The computer has been randomly switching to LAN2 for its internet connection, which causes problems and is only resolved by rebooting, or repairing the connection on LAN2, whereupon the internet connection switches back to LAN1. I have no idea why it is doing this. The computer is running Windows XP 64bit. Any thoughts? I can't just turn off the other NIC, either, as one piece of software must use it to connect.

This has been going on for about 2-3 months. Whenever I turn my computer on, 2 messages (Each saying Microsoft .NET Framework) comes on. (It says Mailbox unavailable. Open Question: how to network 2 vista pc's with crossover?
Ok so I have my two pc's set up and running on this machine I have the crossover cable as well as the patch for the internet. On my other pc I only have the crossover cable plugged in. I have enabled file sharing on both machines. But when I try to access the other pc from this one I receive this mistake message "pc is not accessible. You might not have permissions to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Okay, everytime i try to connect to xbox live it says cant connect, when i go to test connection it comes up with "Your DNS server cant resolve the names of the xbox live servers or xbox.com" i have done everything possible such as restarting my modem and router,manually setting my DNS settings and every that.I dont know what to do. Im not sure if i have my xbox live ethernet chord plugged in wrong or my router chords plugged in wrong but my computer internet is working. Also could there be something blocking my xbox from connecting on my computer?
